Guided days out

Discover the Cairngorms

Discover our National Park

Enjoy a chauffeur-driven, fully guided day out in the Cairngorms National Park! Our day trips offer the choice of exploring the five distinctive areas of the National Park, each of which boasts its own individual character and appeal; a day discovering how water becomes the Water of Life or In the Footsteps of Nan Shepherd.

The Living Mountain

Spend a day walking in the footsteps of Nan Shepherd taking in the grand landscape using all our senses. We will submerge ourselves in the sound of streams, listen to the birdsong in ancient pine forests, let our hands feel the difference between granite and gabbro while discovering places that inspired Shepherd’s poetry and prose – and get inspired ourselves. A reasonable level of fitness is required for this hill day, but previous experience is not necessary. Available for two to seven people – book here!

Stories & Gaelic in the Landscape

Stories, whether traditional or newly written, offer people an emotional, creative and intuitive way of engaging with the world around them. A good story, told well, can open up a whole new level of interpretation and understanding of a landscape. Duncan is one of those storytellers and he will add a new dimension to your experience in the Cairngorms National Park. Please get in touch to discuss your preferred date for this inspiring day out.

A Walk in Paintings – with artist Angus Grant

We are delighted to offer a day out with accomplished local artist, Angus Grant, who is eager to showcase what the Cairngorms have to offer to the artistic eye. Angus will be your guide and tutor for the day in order to spend several hours walking and exploring parts of the stunning Cairngorms. During this trip, you will be able to take photographs and make sketches of scenes that inspire you. This activity is aimed at creating a collection of source imagery that will motivate you ahead of the afternoon session, when Angus will teach you how to produce larger finished paintings.

From Source to Bottle

Set among the Northern Cairngorms, this day trip shows you how we turn water into whisky – from the source of one of our most recognised single malts to the fantastic cooperage on the Eastern edge of the National Park, where we learn about the old tradition of making and restoring the whisky barrels. Included is a tasting lunch in the picturesque setting of a Victorian Shooting Lodge which has been luxuriously converted to a four star hotel. Book now for this wonderful experience.

Taste of the Cairngorms

An unforgettable experience combing gentle walks, stunning views and great food – and drink! – throughout the day. Starting from Aviemore, a picnic which includes treats from a local estate await you in a picture perfect setting, followed by a brewery tour and tastings, browse a farm shop and enjoy a delicious and leisurely lunch. A forest walk to highlands lochans prepares you for a legendary afternoon tea where the cakes must be seen – and tasted – to be believed!
